Janis is the founder of the firm. He has graduated from the University of Latvia Faculty of Law. He holds a master of law degree (LL.M.) and a master degree in the social science of law (M.Soc.Sc.). Before forming the law office Janis was a lawyer in the music industry, later becoming a senior lawyer in a leading telecommunication company AS SAF Tehnika. He became a senior lawyer for Rodl&Partner law office, and in 2014 at law office VORONCOVS. Janis speaks Latvian, Russian and English.
